KATYA SUSSMAN

President

Katya Sussman was born and raised in Ukraine. She attended CUNY Baruch and graduated with a degree in Finance and Investments. Katya concentrated her career on consulting with asset management, insurance, and finance firms in New York City. While in New York, Katya was part of MISHKA Foundation - a non-profit organization that raises money to help sick kids in the Ukraine and Russia. In 2014 she switched her
career from Finance to Fashion and became a wardrobe stylist. She has worked with celebrities like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Pharrel, Lena Dunham, Judd Apatow, and many others. Katya is married to Joshua Sussman, an executive at Disney, with whom she has two children.

Katya serves on a Board of a non-profit organization called SHARE. Since joining SHARE, Katya has danced at 2019 Boomtown and has been involved with the Auction & Show Committees for the shows in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Katya’s project Remoda which took high-end designer clothes donated by the members and sold them on consignment was a huge success and all the proceeds went directly to SHARE.

ANNA GERTS

Treasurer

Anna was born in Germany but raised in Ukraine. She graduated from Kyiv University of Economics with a bachelor’s degree in finance and has her second degree in Finance and Investments from the City University of New York. She investigated and conducted audits of State Agencies and public benefit corporations for the Office of the New York State Comptroller. Working with big corporations and even bigger numbers gave Anna a solid background to continue her career on Wall Street working for FOREX, which is number one broker in US for Forex trading. Even though she was very skillful and successful in the financial industry but always had a feeling that there is more to explore… so she moved to CA to explore new opportunities.

Becoming a pilot opened up the new chapter in her life. Year after the year certificate after certificate and she became a flight instructor always ready to help her students and mentor them through all up and downs up in the air and down on the ground. Now she is an accomplished airline pilot raising three boys and as always open to help and support!

LENA BASSE

Secretary

Lena Basse was born and raised in Ukraine. Lena holds a B.A. from Kiev State University and also completed additional entertainment studies at the University of California, L.A. (UCLA). She moved to California in 1997 with her family from Germany where she lived since her marriage to Hanno Basse with whom she has two daughters. Lena has been a prolific entertainment correspondent for numerous outlets from all over
Eastern Europe during her prestigious career, working in Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania
since 2010. Her work has been featured in VGL Cinema, Elle Ukraine, Indie.

Entertainment Magazine and Moteris Lithuania and she also has worked as a columnis for DayNightTV. The impressive interviewer joined the HFPA in 2016 and has recorded multiple episodes of the organization’s official podcast, being able to extricate in-depth interviews about the life and careers of talent and filmmakers featured in the series. In addition to writing for the goldenglobes.com website, Lena also served as a jury
member for the French Riviera Film Festival since 2019 and Jury President for the HFPA Scholarship Program at the Asian World Film Festival in 2021.
